Lyla's Development (15 Months)

When I started blogging, we were heading into missions and so I had a missions blog. I didn't want to overwhelm it with all of my kid updates, so I had a "Mommy" blog. When I started this blog, I didn't know what my intentions were exactly, except that blogging helps me to clear my head and process life, and I enjoy looking back at old posts. Some people blog for money, and I considered (and prayed about) it, but I've realized that for me, blogging is just about sharing what's on my heart and what's important to me. If people want to read along, then I'm grateful you care about me and us, and I love hearing from you! But at the end of the day, even if no one ever cared to read my blog, I would probably still do it.

So, all that to say... I've been working on simplifying my life as I seek to find greater rest in the Lord and less stress from my surroundings, and one of the things I've decided to do in that processes is to streamline to just one blog. But baby (kid) updates must still happen! Because really, that is the majority of my life right now. So they will just move here. :)

So with no further ado, here is Lyla Jubilee's 15 Month Development post...

I love this little girl. She reminds me more of Brielle as she grows older. In her looks, but also in her personality. She loves being silly and making people laugh. Brielle has her daddy's laid-back, carefree, and rebellious personality... I'm not sure if I'm ready for another one of those! Praying for lots of grace and patience over here! Truly, she is wonderful though. I love that she is a whole new person that I get to watch grow and learn.

Since turning a year, she has learned to stand up on her own. She pushes herself up from the ground and stands (rather than holding onto something and letting go). In the last month, she has started taking steps. She can take up to 5, but she still falls quite a bit and so she's not walking all the time. She loves being on her legs though. It's really hard for her to sit now because she just wants to be up and moving.

At 7 months, Lyla was not even close to being on the weight charts. I was concerned because she wasn't gaining weight. Praise the Lord that by a year, she had made it on the charts, although she was still just in the 20% at 17 pounds 12 ounces. From 12 to 13 months, she gained three pounds and was 21 pounds! Isn't that crazy! I'm guessing that in the last two months that she easily could have gained two or three more. She has some beautiful chubbiness on her now.

Lyla is so observant, and it's fun watching her try to do things we do, like feed baby dolls and put shoes on and snap her fingers. Apparently she also watches me clean out her dirty cloth diapers, because the other day I found a (clean) cloth diaper in the toilet. She points at things when she wants you to notice. She doesn't talk much, but she does say "hi" and "uh oh" and "boom" and "mama" and "thank you," and she tries to say some other words like "duck" and "ball" when I ask her if she can say them.

She loves music. The girls and I sing songs about every day, and she bounces and smiles and claps when we do, and she also tries to sing along in her loud voice (she's by far my loudest child). We went to a wedding last week, and little kids were dancing, and Lyla tried over and over to get up and dance with them.

She adores food. So she gained all that weight quite honestly.

She has been doing great in the nursery at church and homeschool co-op which is just great, and I'm so thankful. She doesn't even cry when I drop her off, and as long as she has her blanky and paci, she will just sit or lay on the floor the whole time.

Likes: Food, blanky and paci, sisters, Mama, being outside, standing and trying to walk, baby dolls, music, talking loudly, brushing her teeth (and eating toothpaste)`

Dislikes: Being told no, baths (she sometimes likes them, but mostly she doesn't), when one of her sisters sit on my lap, having her diaper changed, sitting still
